On 30th June 2021, in the case of Tarunjyoti Tewari Vs. The Union of India and Ors., the Calcutta High Court directed the West Bengal Government to file an affidavit with details of the investigation and its progress in the matter of Fake vaccination camps of COVID 19 that are alleged to be conducted by Debanjan Deb.
The said accused was arrested by the police after the complaint of fake vaccination camp was filed. It is suspected that there are over 800 people which also includes the members of Trinamool Congress, are being injected with antibiotic Amikacin instead of the COVID 19 vaccine. This happened because of the fake vaccination camp organised by the accused, and thereby the police has constituted a Special Investigation Team to look into this matter.
The Plea filed by the petitioner also alleges that there also exists a possibility that the administration of West Bengal Government might be involved at some extent as the names of high ranked ministers of the ruling government are also being involved in the said case. Thus the PIL seeks independent investigation by the central agency to make it a fair and unbiased investigation.
The Bench after hearing the plea, questioned the state government that how can an accused of a case can roam around freely in blue beacon car? The court also asked the West Bengal government to file an affidavit regarding the said issue and submit it to the court before the next date, which is 2nd July 2021.
