Celebrating 10 Years of POSH!
The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act (POSH Act) was enforced on 9th December 2013. This was a landmark moment, that worked to solidify and enshrine the rights, duties and processes to be followed by organisations and individuals at work to build safe workspaces for women, free from sexual harassment. The Law takes after the Vishaka Guidelines for Prevention Of Sexual Harassment (POSH) introduced by the Supreme Court (SC) of India and focuses on awareness and sensitization of all employees, signifying that the responsibility of the employer is to create safe workspaces for all employees at work (Section 19).
2023 marks 10 years since the Act was enforced – a significant moment in the evolution of the POSH Act.
